Cape River Heritage Museum

The Cape River Heritage Museum is located in the old Cape Fire Station. The tiny museum displays river-related artifacts including some steamboat models and an old fire engine.

Missouri Wall of Fame Murals

The floodwall of Cape Girardeau features the Missouri Hall of Fame Murals. Included is a painting of the steamboat Cape Girardeau. There are more murals all around the town. For more information check the website.

South East Missouri Regional Museum

The South East Missouri Regional Museum received most of the exhibits of the former Golden Eagle River Museum of St. Louis (while other parte had been transferred to the Herman T. Pott Inland Waterways Library at Mercantile Libary in St. Louis and parts of the museums books goint to th Missouri Historical Society.

A special exhibition at the South East Missouri Regional Museum called “River Boat Legacy: A Gift from the Golden Eagle River Museum” closed on Aug 14, 2005. The artifacts were supposed to be displayed in a new building in the near future – no new information about this up to date (i.e. May 2020).

From Highway 61 BUS take Broadway, turn left at Henderson. The Museum is located at the corner of Henderson and Normal Street.
