Greetings, all...!

I encountered a picture of the steamer "Oregon" while reading a history of the Stone-Campbell churches. She was built by Rees, knocked down and re-assembled overseas, and operated on the Congo in Africa. A little noodling led me back to my Rees catalog, which includes another photo and a testimonial from the missionary that used the boat. All of these photos of her are bow-on shots, such that I can't tell if she was a screw-boat or a sternwheeler. Even the specs listing in the catalog doesn't say. Does anyone know?

As always, many thanks!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E._R._Moon suggests she was a sternwheeler.

Indeed it does, Jon - many thanks! Close examination of the picture in that link also reveals hog chains that all but seal the matter.

From the picture it appears to have small engines... note the cylinder head peaking out.
Also appears the gents on the stern are putting oil in the journal cups. Luke10454.jpg

Right, Luke.....and if I really squint it looks like a slide valve engine sitting on proper cylinder timbers. Clearly a sternwheeler!
Should anyone encounter other (better!) pictures of the "Oregon", please let me know.
Many thanks!
