With the first voyage of the AQ in some time set for early August out of New Orleans, what will the logistics and timing likely be to get it from the current stated storage location at Amelia, LA to the dock in downtown New Orleans. I assume there will be some type of trial run to make sure things are all still working, restocking, etc, as well as the journey itself. Anyone know of past history of such activities at the start of the season.
I just know how ocean cruise lines are doing it - and there is no standard way there either. Some indeed run test cruises (partially. in the US, because it is required by the CDC) or do some tests of their procedures and hygiene protocols while in port. Others, especially if they do have previous experience from cruising during the pandemic just start right away. I suppose the main challenge is the handling of the hygiene protocols which the crew is not experienced in (nor are the passengers), so they need some training in handling this in real life, not just theory.
Update on the AQ as of 20 July morning, just passed "Head of Passes" on the way to New Orleans, so it is now on the Mississippi River. Finally, a restart of real steamboat'n is just around a few bends....
