Dennis Trone built a hydraulic pitman boat in 1969, the Border Star.
Does anyone know where this vessel ended up? I remember Lloyd
Poore sold it to Kentucky Lake, then Toledo, Florida and lastly Covington,
La, but after that I've lost track. Pondering in Paducah.

Morning, Luke. Good questions above and I don't know. I 'think' if Capt. Bob Reynolds, David Tschiggfrie, Capt. Don Sanders,Capt. John Vize etc. click on here to read the may know the answers. Times are when boats get 'sold down the river' history of them gets murky. Hope you get your information on here.

To my knowledge the MAGNOLIA is sitting in Louisiana. Joe Baer was her last owner, and I believe he still has dreams of bringing her out again.

Many thanks. Wondered what became of the boat. It had a unique hydraulic pitman drive system not
seen very often... rams that replicated steam engines. Dennis built 2 or 3... I know the Talisman at
New Salem ( 1961? ) was the first hydraulic pitman drive, perhaps one more in the mid-60's, then the Border
Star in 1969, I believe. The look was authentic, but never caught on as a common propulsion alternative to
gears and chains, or hydraulic motors on the fantail.
