    Another River Friend Passes

Keenon Coleman made the crossing yesterday after suffering congestive heart failure. He was 79. Keenon, among his other talents, was an excellent model builder. He was most proud that four of his steamboat models are on display at the Howard Steamboat Museum, the SPRAGUE, GORDON C. GREENE, MINNIE BAY, VALLEY BELLE and BRYANTS SHOWBOAT. Keenon was a long time friend of the museum and he was a big help to Loretta Howard when she first established the museum. Because of his long time help, the museum's board of directors voted him a lifetime member. A memorial service will be held next Wednesday, April 27th, 11:00, at St. Marks Episcopal Church.

Indeed, Keenon was a loyal friend to the Howard Steamboat Museum from its establishment in 1958. We are honored to display his wonderful steamboat models, of which he was so justifiably proud. During the HSM-sponsored charter cruise aboard the Str. BELLE of LOUISVILLE during the Steamboat Bicentennial Celebration in 2011, it was my privilege and honor to present Keenon with a LIFE membership in the museum.

Keenon was a good friend to many of us, but especially treasured his longtime friendship with Jimmy Reising and Kenny Howe, who took good care of him.

A whistle salute to you Keenon! THANKS for everything and we'll see you later!
