Steamboat Shipbuilder?

We are developing a theme park in Texas and look to incorporate a steamboat feature, reminiscent of the SS Yellow Stone (a sidewheeler) to function as event space. It may or may not be functional, depending on cost and usability.

Does anyone know of a shipbuilder that could construct such a vessel with a high degree or character although not necessarily a reproduction?

Welcome to the board, Monty. You don't say where in Texas the park will be, but there are quite a few yards in Texas and Louisiana who would be very capable. A good design is essential whether you go with functional or just "for show".

As far as a "high degree or character", choose your designer(s) carefully. And be prepared to spend some money.
