The board of directors and staff of the Howard Steamboat Museum cordially invite you to our annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 9th from 1:00 until 4:00 PM.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in the Library to visit with "believers" of ALL ages, the Corydon Dulcimer Society will provide holiday music in the Parlor and refreshments will be served in the Dining Room. Come see our newly restored chandeliers and enjoy the Howard mansion decorated in yuletide finery.

Admission is free, but donations are always appreciated. The gift shop will be open with a wide selection of river books and steamboaty stocking stuffers.

      THANKS!

THANKS to ALL who participated in our annual holiday open house at the Howard Steamboat Museum this afternoon. Capt. Mike Fitzgerald manned the clicker and by closing time we had welcomed over 100 visitors, some with children eager to talk with Santa Claus in the Library. One little boy asked, "Santa, did you get my e-mail?" Guess kids no longer mail letters to the North Pole!

The Corydon Dulcimer Society provided great music in the parlor and we had a wonderful array of delicious goodies available in the dining room. Thanks to Jo Ann Schoen for taking care of the "second deck" of the mansion and for bringing home baked goodies to share.

Our new pilothouse is also decorated for the holidays, sporting white lights around the top and greenery across the breastboard, etc. The stand holding the big bell from the MISSISSIPPI QUEEN is also decorated for yuletide!

On Sunday, January 20th, we will host a special reception for Yvonne Knight on the occasion of her retirement (December 31st) from HSM after MANY years of loyal and dedicated service. The reception will be from 4-6:30 PM and is open to the public. If you can't attend, we hope you will send Yvonne a card of appreciation and best wishes. Thanks to her, the doors of the HSM have remained open for the past two decades. Cards may be addressed to her at P.O. Box 606, Jeffersonville, IN 47131-0606.

It Was a Great Time Enjoyed By All

It truely is the little museum that DOES. Everytime I attend a function like this one at the museum, I can't help but to believe Loretta Howard is up there smiling down upon us. Things such as this are the fulfillment of all her dreams for the mansion and the museum.
This is a picture of Santa at Howards, by the way that little girl on Santa's lap is my youngest grandaughter, Madeline....her first visit with the bearded old man.
