Str. ADMIRAL Book Soon To Be Launched!

Another fascinating steamboat history tome is about to slide down the ways! River buffs and buffettes will surely want to order The Steamer Admiral and Streckfus Steamers - A Personal View. Written by Annie Amantea Blum, this is a new memoir and authoritative history of the great river icon and excursion vessel that operated at St. Louis from 1940 until 1979, ending her career as an entertainment center and finally a casino.

As many know, Annie is a retired St. Louis educator who spent summers from 1962 until 1978 as a crew member on the ADMIRAL. Her husband, Capt. Jim Blum, also served as the big sidewheeler's pilot in the early 1970's. Annie and Jim were the presenters for this year's River Ramblings program at the Howard Steamboat Museum. Their fascinating presentation on "The Big Silver Boat" left the audience wanting more -- and here is your chance to learn more about this unique steamboat, now lost to the ages.

The new book contains 144 pages with 62 photographs from the Capt. William F. and Betty Streckfus Carroll Collection at the Herman T. Pott National Inland Waterways Library at the University of Missouri - St. Louis.

Special pre-Christmas order price is $26.99 plus $3.00 shipping. After this special introductory offer the price will be $29.98 plus $3.00 shipping. Order Soon!

    Congratulations Annie - and THANKS!
