    Steamboat Bicentennial Bonanza!

This afternoon we had a meeting at the Howard Steamboat Museum to plan our participation in the bicentennial celebration commemorating the 1811 trip of the NEW ORLEANS. Our committee has many logistics to work out, but first of all we want you steamboat buffs and buffettes out there to MARK YOUR CALENDARS for SEPTEMBER 23-25. This will be a Friday, Saturday and Sunday conference entitled "MR. ROOSEVELT'S STEAMBOAT REMEMBERED - TWO CENTURIES OF STEAMBOATS".

This weekend of "steamboat stuff", featuring a Friday evening reception at the museum, speakers, music, and other educational events will include a chartered dinner cruise aboard our beloved Str. BELLE OF LOUISVILLE on Saturday evening, September 24th.

More details will be posted as plans are confirmed. Meanwhile, please save the date and plan to join us for what is going to be a real bonanza of steamboating!

We've cooled down our boilers and have rung off the engineer for today, but stay tuned for further bulletins!

As an extra added attraction for those interested in military ships, the LST 325 will also be visiting Louisville that weekend!

More details forthcoming concerning registration, etc!
