    Calliope on the Market

Saw this in the newest edition of Sea History magazine today. $105,000 is quite a bit of money, but I'm sure someone out there will pay it if they really want it. I asked Dad if there was someway to get it for me for Christmas. No luck, it's always nice to dream :)

ho hum, just a Streckfus calliope

Matt, that is a calliope off of the Streckfus excursion boat WASHINGTON. The CAPITOL's calliope went to the ADMIRAL and thence into the realm of the unknown. The JS DELUXE'S went on to the PRESIDENT and has since been dismantled and parts displayed in a many a person's collection. So to have one still intact is great. Now to the calliope detectives: what ever happened to the calliope on the original JS? Or the SAINT PAUL's?

The fax number in that calliope ad suggests it's in the Miami, Florida area.
