Hopefully Michael Cummins can defeat Oberstar in the upcoming elections. He is also a DQ supporter.

Post another reply, people, to this Youtube and rate the video, too.

    You never know...

Here's a version you can add your comments to.

Well, filtering doesn't work this way on Youtube. There is no way they (Oberstar's staff) can find out in advance whether someone is using a link from steamboats.org or not. But in Youtube you can block specific users and you can set comments on "moderate", which means no comment goes live before it is approved by the owner of the video that is being commented on. Hence, negative comments will never show up, though one of the Oberstar staff members at least has to delete them, one by one, manually (or just ignore them).

My suggestion: If you post a comment on Youtube (just in hope at least the Oberstar staff reads it before deleting it), double-post it as comment to my blog entry at steamboats.org, too, so everyone can see what the comments would have looked like if they are not being deleted.

Trying to post comments on YouTube

I've found that if you go to the YouTube clip through a link on steamboats.org, it will not let you post a comment. But, if you go to the address line of your web browser, and take out everything after the page identifier (aka, take out the area you find that the referrer is steamboats.org), the video should still be there and you can then post. The comments will get deleted by the Oberstar staff, but you can still let them know of your disgust. It seems that they have a way of filtering out the steamboats.org people. But, if you are crafty enough, you can get your comment submitted.

    Bruno-
I must confess that I've been there, done that myself, at least a dozen times. It's quite satisfying and a little like sticking pins in a voo doo doll. LOL!

And I have tried to rate it multiple times, but it won't let me. It seems at first to take multiple ratings but I've noticed that the ratings number isn't changing.

By the way, Travis, Nice Delta Queen YouTube videos, calliope and whistle, that you added. Interesting selection of calliope music by Doc Hawley...Thanks for adding them, any calliope music is a wonder to our ears...

I just went to the video and tried to post a comment but it, too wouldn't load. Here's what I tried to post:

"Hey Jimmy, why did you remove all the comments? Can't stand to hear the truth? What happened to freedom of speech? Is that also something you want to do away with?"

Well, if we can't comment we can still rate it. I suggest we all go there and give it a rating of 1 star which is the lowest.

And of course, I couldn't let it go, so I tryed to post again, asking why he deleted all the comments, all negative I might add. It was beautiful, a work of art...

The video will not accept my comment...I hit post and *poof*...GONE

    What a piece of work...

I too just checked the comments to Mr Oberstar's video...Interesting, all the comments are now gone, I guess deleted. Maybe we got his attention? I'm thinking of reposting the exact same ones I did, if I can remember what I said...

I wanted to read the comments on the video, but I have to turn the sound down. I can't stand to listen to the voice or the words!

If you notice the credit on the Oberstar You Tube clip, you'll see that it was added by ObrstrMN08 which appears to be either Oberstar himself or his campaign committee. There are several other clips on different subjects posted with the same credit. Hopefully, the poster(s) will check back from time to time and read the comments of viewers, all of which are pertinent and/or quite amusing.

Is no one allowed to refute his lies before congress? I would think that Chabot should be allowed to respond to them, The Coast Guard does license the DQ--and what on earth does a 747 have to do with a riverboat???? As for using the Sultan disaster, that's typical political mis-construing of facts. AAAAAUGHHHH!~!!!!!!!! @#%&!!!
