    Cincinnati Enquirer Coverage

Another really good article in the Cincinnati Enquirer today. Lots of links including the good video made last year when the reporter spent a few days aboard the boat. Also the Louisville Courier Journal has an article today. However, someone with more computer knowledge than I will have to put the link on here.

I agree great article. Cincinnati Reps. Steve Chabot and Jean Schmidt will push heaven and earth to get the extension renewed.
How about the comments included in the article from "On the Web" Rep. James Oberstar the Chairman states, "Congress would never exempt a particular 747 aircraft from FAA safety standards and we should not exempt a passenger vessel carrying hundreds of sleeping people from Coast Guard safety standards". Hello, what does a plane flying at 30, 000 some feet above the earth have to do with the DQ which is always in site of land??? What a stupid comparison!!! And I strongly agree with Joann that everybody click on the link, about 1/3 of the way down, on the Enquirer article titled "See what it's like to ride on the Delta Queen". There are five separate short videos with alot of good friends in them. Some powerful words are spoken, too.

Hell, I'll try to make it easy for everybody. Hopefully, here are the links:

                Jim,

Thanks for the mypetjawa link. Interesting stuff. Matter of fact the one representative, Mike Doyle, is living in and representing the neighborhood I grew up in...

and is a PSU grad to boot, like me, almost the same year.

I e-mailed him, tried to appeal to his 'burgh roots, asked him to tour or cruise the DQ to see the safety in place for himself, and to not judge unless he did so.

Gawd, A Pittsburger not for the river? That's like not liking Iron...

                  SIU aiding and abetting MAL

And as I've mentioned before, and THIS IS MY OPINION: the union is retaliating against MAL for the union-busting, but in reality, they are helping MAL achieve their goal: to get rid of the DQ. If SIU really wanted to hurt MAL, they'd SUPPORT the exemption and make MAL be made known as the real enemy of the DQ. Obviously when AMIE/MAL bought up all those boats, they did so not to run them all, but rather to wipe out any competition, in my opinion. They probably knew from the gitgo that the DQ, CONTESSA, and most likely MQ, would be dumped, but good business sense would dictate to not let those boats compete against their 'assets'. Sacrificial lambs to the corporate world, and the SIU has fallen for it!... IN MY OPINION

Judy, I think your opinion is pretty much right on the money.
