    Riverman gone

Clarence Walker, Jr., known by all his river friends and fellow pilots as Capt. "Junior" Walker passed on October 5, 2016 at his home in Aurora, In.

"Junior" was one of the best of the best. He started with Capt. John Beatty about 1952, worked his way up to be Port Captain for The Ohio River Co. He decided to start his own towing company in the 1970's and he built a real fine towboat, the M/V Garnett Ann, named for his wife. It still is working today up in the Pittsburgh area as the M/V MacKenzie Lynn. "Junior" was a superb boat handler, he was 84.

Hi Dan: No I did not, I just found out the news while talking on the VHF to Capt. Martin Leake on the M/V Kentucky. Marty knew "Junior" and I were part of the group Beatty often referred to as "his boys". I was stunned to say the least.
