    Seeking Perfessors

    Good morning steamboaters,

I am in search of calliope players for the Belle's centennial in October. If you plan to be in the Louisville area any time between October 14-19th and are interested in playing at daily calliope concerts please e-mail me at 100yrsofriverindustry@gmail.com

    Thanks,

    Aaron Richardson

    Aaron,

I am aware of a few seasoned professionals who may be in the area and available to perform for you. Am I correct in assuming that the ANNA MARIE steam barge instrument is the one for which you are seeking Calliopists? Some of the Perfessors who may be interested may request funds for them to come to Louisville to perform. Will such be available for them?

I wish I could say I was available, however I may be working aboard a boat as well as working with the Howard Museum that week. Sorry, I don't think I could be available for the whole festival. Perhaps I could do a day or a few performances for you. Will the Perfessor also be blowing the whistles and talking about the "sounds of the river" like Capt. Hawley did up at the Tall Stacks festivals?

      Hey Travis,

Let me first apologize for stepping on Keith's birthday thread, Happy Birthday Keith!

Yes, the Anna Marie will be there. Our display is happening solely from industry sponsorship so to answer your question sadly at this point we cannot provide any financial assistance to get any perfessors there. I've had to turn a couple boat offers away simply because we don't have a budget to help get them there. I have gotten a good response so far from some talented players so I think we will be O.K. but if anyone else will be in the Louisville area please hit me up.

Still unknown if our "concerts" will include narration but I hope so and I hope that other whistles will be allowed on the manifold too. Will know more in the coming months.

Where is Ann Zeiger when you really need her?
