    Work Day At The Museum

Last Thursday Cureator/Director Keith assembled at crew for a work day at the museum. The aim was to assemble seven warehouse shelves for the new conservaton/stoarage building. That sounded simple enough but the crew he assembled was; your's truely, Chief Kenny Howe, Riverlorian Travis, Capt. Mike Fitzgerald, Engineer Dan Lewis, another crewman from the Belle and a museum board member, Dave Hamitt.
There was no subject off limits...we talked about everybody from Alan Bates (it been a year since his passing), to former engineer Art Reese, from Capt Ernie Wagner to Betty Blake and everyone in between.
The work session ended with a preview of a new video made for the museum entitled "The Howards and the Boats They Built" featuring 87 Howard photos..many of them never before made public.
Believe it or not, we got the shelves built and placed, but what a work day it was.
Next time you might want to join us.

Jim, thanks for the update from the Howard. It's nice to know that Keith is taking well to his new role as Curator, and it's also nice to know what goes on at the Howard during the winter months (though we can all take comfort in the fact that Memorial Day is only about 4 months away!)
