    Coalboat Water

I am very flattered that Franz Neumeier has selected Coalboat Water as the Book-of-the-Month.
Those of you who have the first edition may be interested in the new version. In addition to being a professionally printed and bound volume the text has been editted by Barbara Huffman with a vast improvement to the pace and taste of the story. Captain John Hartford's sparkling drawings illustrate the text and the cover is graced by a print of his watercolor painting of the Steamer Oakdale. An illustrated lexicon has been added for those who need one.
Coalboat Water will be available January 1, 2007. If you want an autographed and/or dedicated volume buy it from me. You may also order them from Steamboats.org, Lulu.com, Amazon, Ingram, Barnes & Noble, the Howard Museum, etc. by email if you wish.

If this edition is better than the first, it remains a must read for any self-respecting river rat. It would make a great Christmas gift too!

Thank you for the endorsement, Tom. Unfortunately, it cannot be delivered before Christmas. To paraphrase Robert Burns, my "best laid schemes went aft agley."

Direct orders for Alan's "Coalboat Water" can be placed at Lulu: http://www.lulu.com/content/562976. But of course if you want the book autographed/dedicated, buy it from Alan directly :-)
