    P A Denny

I spoke with the new owners of the Denny and found out the following.
    * Hull bid is going out to bring it to USCG rating for passengers
    * Prepairing for renovations, painting has been done
    * She is on the little Kanawha for the time
    * Looking for a person/company to lease and run the boat, new owner does not want to operate it.
    * Most likely will port at S. Charleston WV

If you want more details leave me a message on here...

Who is the new owner? CG documentation shows it is still owned by ORSANCO. I would like the info so I can correct the listing in the Inland River Record.

I spoke with the owner of the PA Denny in December. In January his group purchased the former casino boat BILOXI QUEEN, which is the boat that is currently in the Harvey Canal near the MQ. Not sure what their plans are for the BQ, but it is for sale or charter, as is the PA Denny.

            BILOXI QUEEN

The sidewheel boat he lists in his projects would fit the BQ, except for the statement it has never been used. The dimensions seem right for the boat I saw in the Harvey Canal. Where was the BQ used, obviously Biloxi, but for what company and where? I don't recall it. There was one casino that looked like a pirate ship, but Mississippi allowed them to just build barges without having to look like a boat, which is what Biloxi and Gulfport had. If I saw the BQ, I don't remember it.

The B.Q. has never been "in service". I was on her several weeks back. Everything was set up to install the gambling machines but this was never done. It's really quite a boat and would make a great day triper. It's current condition allows for someone to go any direction they might desire with the interior being wide open.

                BQ

Thanks Fred, I didn't think I'd miss seeing a casino that was a boat.

She is best suited to be a LMR boat with her superstructure and stacks being so tall. Good looking boat, though! I bet she'd make a great dinner boat somewhere in Florida or Mobile.

                    Biloxi Queen

                    Greetings From New Orleans ,
The current owner of the M/V Biloxi Queen last told Fred and I that it was intent to move the boat to West Va. where he will either use if for his personal use , lease it or sell it out right !
Captain Finley Frasier and myself have been slated to bring the M/V Biloxi Queen up to her new home and hopefully Capt. Fred and " Steamboat Mary " will be accompany us on this sojourn !
As Capt. Fred indicated she has never been in service , never been used except to bring her to the New Orleans / Harvey Canal area and beleved it or not she was bought at auction on E Bay !
She has twin KT 160 , twin diesels engines , a bow thruster , and two generators as well ! Once she is outfitted and living quarters are finished for the crew we will start the trip up to her new home in West Virginai !
She is one fine vessel and will be very successful no matter where she is either owned or operated !
                    Smooth Sailing !

Ted, I see why the BQ is such a handsome vessel. She was designed by Bill Preston. Do you know if he is still in business as Marine Power - retired - still alive?

This thread diverged. What is the PA Denny doing now?

The Denny lost its COI after a hull inspection in late '09, and without that, its usefullness to ORSANCO ended (being unable to do public excursions). It sold to R.C. Heckert shortly thereafter and remains in the Parkersburg, WV area in private use. Would have been nice to see it at Louisville this week, running excursions.
