Tuesday, July 17. 2007American Queen visits Grandview, IndianaHowdy, great news, we had a "Royal Visit" states the media today in Grandview, Indiana. The American Queen came to visit. Our NBC affiliate, WFIE-TV, announced the visit. Dan Shrader, Second Mate, I believe was interviewed. The guests boarded motorcoaches and visited Spencer County, in Indiana. It is a small town, but has a great view of the river and a full shot of the American Queen. It was glorious. I'm sure those folks nutted up in seeing the boat. It is not too far from Evansville, Indiana--by road. Don't faint, some folks are a tad scratching their heads since there is an undercurrent that we may get a river boat here, or two in the area permanently. So, I heard a rumor that some folks may want a different area/marina. The present one chosen is a quaint spot that is clean, quiet, and easy access. The marina is a tad away from the neat river front that we have in Evansville, Indiana, but it is a clean place, easy to work with, and always tries to find ways to make things work. That is the Nu Plaza Yacht Club at marker 797. Some think that instead of doing just a harbor add a new marina to the harbor project. The reason is that the other cities around us are going to clobber us within two years on the river front. Our last dock effort wasn't thought out or planned too well. So, there may be efforts to look at other more well thought out options.......if you believe rumors. Nu Plaza Yacht Club likes all boats. Henderson, Kentucky starts getting their $10 million dollars to add to their river front. The tad over $3 million dollars a year is being decided by the public and its office holders with some meetings. They had input from the public this week. So, don't know what all they will do to purtify "make pretty" the river front but wanted to add more boat docking space and widen the boat ramp is what we were told on the news TV stations. SO, It is about time that our Ohio River Region is going to crank it up a tad. You'll see. In Owensboro, Kentucky they will be starting their work more and looking to add housing development along the river. I'm chomping at the bit for one or two river boats to be here in Evansville, Indiana.......got to get my closing on a building, got some contract papers out but not signed, and after my closing I'll probably dash faster for those deposits than anything I've ever done in my life. Yep, I'm the card wanting to purchase some river boating in this area. I keep at it. My enemies keep at me, but I keep at it. I've got the best product going and I will present the best that I can to the public to enjoy. I'll keep you posted. Got to close a real estate deal first, and then it is to the Ohio River with a fun boating journey. I'm so excited and trying to keep in there. Had bad financing company earlier and had to fire them. But, now, I'm on target. We're going to rock the Ohio River region soon. Mary Monday, July 2. 2007Flatboat excursion on the Ohio Riverpaddlewheel ferry in winter
The following picture gives an idea on how thick the ice had been that day while the ferry was still running.
Thanks very much, Tom, for the picture! DELTA QUEEN or DELTA KING?
