This week's featured boat is the JOHANN STRAUSS at Vienna, Austria. The boat was built in 1950 on the hull of a 1853's boat CARL LUDWIG and today serves as a restaurant and night club, located on the Danube Channel at Vienna.
Now, let's return to part two of the European boats series: This is the KOSSUTH, a sidewheeler at Budapest, Hungary. It's one of only two or three remaining steamboats on the Danube River in Hungary and today serves as a floating restaurant and also has a small museum on board. The boat was built in 1913, named Erzherzog Ferdinand.
A picture I found in my e-mails from Dale Flick - thanks Dale for sendig it quite a while ago! It shows the C.C. BOWYER, according to a Capt. Tom Greene letter, C.C. Boywer was a good friend of Capt. Gordon C. Greene.
An other wonderful picture comes from Don Sanders: Friends pose in fron tof the great bell on the QUEEN CITY. Early 20th Century. The bell was a favorite place for folks to gather and get their picture taken. This is the same bell that still serves as a back ground for photographs taken aboard the DELTA QUEEN, today.
