Hot summer, cool pictures - This pictures of the paddlewheel ferry boat BOONE No. 7 at Anderson Ferry, on the Ohio River near Cincinnati, was made by Tom Schiffer in the winter of 1962/63. Tom's comment: "While I was there, the owner came to start the engine to roll the wheels to keep the ice away".

The following picture gives an idea on how thick the ice had been that day while the ferry was still running.
