Howdy, I'll rewrite this as I meant to hit save before and hit preview, then....who knows what.....and I'm not drinking anything, so it isn't that. And, the other note was spicy....
Anyway, cheers to all at Tall Stacks. I'll be brief, just incase I erase this thing again.
1) clients looking for a neat river boat to purchase, one to two million dollars. Almost bid on one in MidWest and someone beat us and now waiting to see if they close the deal....anyone know of a boat, two decks, in good condition, has wood interior, works, neat boat for sale. Keep me posted. (missed out on another boat, but ya' never know)
2) River Barge Excursion folks looking at Evansville, IN, to possibly dock sometime. Both our boat ramps don't have tie possibilties so I asked our country commissioners to look into it, otherwise, I may have to buy them. The commissioners did pass a river bank ordinance to ticket those who put old boats along the river banks and just dump them there. They stated that they wanted a cleaner river bank as "we now get special folks looking at our river area more now". How's that. Finally, you boat folks are getting to be special. Where is the earthquake tremors?
3) You know that there are just a few boating folks that don't want boating in Evansville, IN, as all of these years they've been lazy, couldn't get a flying pig to dock here, don't have the right facility for you then and now, so must use bad mouthing toward those of us who do want you here, would love to have you here, and can't wait to have you here. I'll purchase some more armour at the store and we'll keep taking the bad mouthing til those other folks die or get use the river boats coming in the region. The public is more in tune to the boat situation and standing up. You'll start seeing some changes around this part of the Ohio River region in time. So, hang in there. The Mayor and a few of his cronies are outsiders on this and the public is steaming....no pun intended. Yee, ha.
4) Our town is working with about 14 parcels of land along the river to create a possible new harbor for more barge traffic and more rail way use to transfer items/product. The Indiana Secretary of Commerce is excited as they've been waiting for months for our local government to do something constructive with the river. We've got lousey politicians now, both sides of the aisle--folks are ticked about both sides of the aisle, and until the dust settles on the next two elections we'll just have to enjoy the ride. But, sooner or later, you'll see these great businessmen complete something neat.
5) If my clients bought a steamboat they were going to fight the US Army Corp of Engineers or the US Coast Guard and get some docking back at the bend of the river at our sparkling river front for boat passengers. Don't know if it would have worked, but heck, pigs can fly.
6) Well, one suggestion I gave to our local CVB Executive Director was to somehow incorporate something with the LST 325 boat with the cities we want to get their boats. So, evidently, that is why you see the LST 325 gracing Tall Stacks, and the pre-Derby. Don't shoot any of my windows out. (the local politicians try that enough) Presently, our city businesses don't have a river boat to call our own. I've been trying to get any of my clients to purchase something, just some boat or barge and we've not found the right one, yet. Well, we did, but one week too late. So, we have to wait and see if the other party got financing or not. IF you know of a steamboat for sale in the MidWest or that can get to the Ohio River, please tell me. My clients will drive there....but before Christmas time or after Christmas as they run businesses right now, too. Anyway, that is why you see an LST 325 lagging with you all. Please be courteous. Most of their volunteers are quite nice. Just a few, we're....not happy with. Doesn't represent our town. The volunteer base is a good group in general, though. Feathers ruffled. For gosh, sakes, there is a whole river out there.....not just their boat. Narrow, but public will get them in shape. You just watch things change in time. Hee, hee. (ha, ha)
7) Wish I was there to meet you all face to face. In time, that will happen. Heck, I'll be thinner, too, huh. Yeah, right. Some clients of mine were going out of town this week or by Sunday to see a boat to possibly make a bid on.....and, someone has beaten us, as we made plans. No one beforehand, but as we were making plans. So, keep me in mind if there is a boat out there.....I'll give a comission on it if it closes as a sale.
8) Cheers to all in Tall Stacks. Our city has mentioned the boats passing by on their way to Cincinnati, OH. One guy told me he saw three boats, one guy saw a boat, and a local TV guy keeps the skycam on and shows us on the weather boats that pass us. The Mississippi Queen was on tape and steaming at the top.....it was a great sight and quite exciting. Folks seem really excited about it all. In time, minus a few dawgs here, we'll be joining the rest of the river region and you'll see our folks excited each time a steamboat comes ripping down or up the river. The public is ready, and we'll bring the boats in with or without the politicians and their bad cronies. (the ones who bad mouth folks) Keep in there, gang, we'll have everyone in as our public wants you. Toot, toot. All Aboard!! In, time.
