White River

The 722 miles long White River flows through Arkansas and Missouri. As many smaller rivers at that time, in the mid 19th century the White River was important transportation facility for the farmers to bring their crops to market, mainly Memphis and New Orleans.

The web page Diving for treaured history on Arkansas' White River gives a nice overview of that time.
