Its removed 'whole', minus the pitmans. I've seen it several times on the wharf and at the shipyard, and its impressive. A little known fact: Capt. Mike as Mate Mike was in charge of rebuilding that wheel in less than a day several years ago when they hit the rocks in the Rock Island Rapids and broke each bucket board. It sure looked strange to see an unpainted paddlewheel as she left Davenport, but it worked and as usual, Mike got the job done............................
