Mr. Oliver: Thanks for posting your remembrance regarding Bill and Catherine Hess and their love for the steamer GOLDEN EAGLE and Capt. Buck Leyhe. Was Bill Hess the purser on the ill fated 1947 trip? It seems I have seen a photo of Mr. Hess and he was sitting at the purser's window wearing a uniform cap.
