I rememeber an incident where a crossbuckle, or what not was cracked...that was summer 1991, it so happened to occur the trip before we got on...on a pittsburgh to cincinnati one way, ours (being that there were myself, my parents, my sister and 12 of our relatives along for the trip) was a 4 night round trip from Cincinnati, with two of the Neal towboats from WV providing power to move. The delta Queen company called my dad the day before we were all to drive down to Cincinnati, telling us that we weren't guarunteed passage due to the repairs being made, and that the previous trips' passengers were off loaded early. we decided to move on as planned, we we arrived at the Cincy waterfront The Delta Queen company bussed us to the Omni Netherlands Plaza for the afternoon, and finally the DQ showed up around 7pm ready to take us on. On our last day aboard the crank pivot was craned back aboard, and that night finally we moved under our own power. i estimate this to have occured in either late july or early August 1991.
