Hi, gang: The discussions Re: 'The Red Hat Society' are fascinating. First I'd heard about it. So, Lil/Paul Starling know about it way down in the Myrtle Beach area. Hey, Lil, I used to rent a beach house south of Myrtle off Highway 17 at the inlet for a week or so in June/July years before the Michigan fishing cabin.
The gentlemen of S&D usually opt for cargo pants, Dockers, shorts, jeans etc., with 'meaningful' T-shirts with monograms, subtle jokes, logos etc. Alan Bates sported his W.P. SNYDER red, white, blue shirt. The gentlemen also sport an array of caps from golf clubs, tow boat companies, marine services, computer companies, big utilities, DELTA QUEEN 'Steamboatin' caps or no hats at all. The guys also stuck to sport coats, suits with shirt and tie or open necked for the banquet. I coveted Jeff Spear's fine linen sport shirt on the VALLEY GEM for sure. He didn't find that number at TARGET! Lewis & Clark crew guys wandered around with classic period costumes and hats. I think we've got something going here. Heck, it's just good seeing everybody there. Cheers, R. Dale Flick
