I agree in that the stress on the vessel (being lifted onto a container vessel) could be a little risky. I have been aboard the Str. Belle of Louisville as she is lifted within a drydock as well. I know what has happened to her (mostly settling and a few small weld ruptures).
However, I am just stating this is a possibility. Many are discounting it all together. I am just supporting the fact that it could be feasible.
Personally, I would like to keep an open mind to the idea, as it has been bantered around in the past and sounds interesting. Don't be surprized, in this new day, if lots of new ideas (even this one) surface on the top! However, the tried and true riverfolk will make sure that our beautiful asset is preserved.
I would reserve judgement (on anything) until I have concrete evidence and a plan on paper.
However, if it goes to the planning stage and is not looking feasible, safe, properly planned, executible, I would withdraw my support in a heart beat...as well, I would hope the powers that be would follow suit.
Judy, you know I respect your judgement, we have been friends for many years. If you have issue with this idea, I can respect that fully. Since I am not in a power position, I am just looking on with starry eyes. Which we both know is nothing new for me! I have always looked at everything on the river with possibility until I am proven wrong. It's the "never say never" Gemini attitude with in me!
