Subject: African Queen -- contact info |

Hi, Tom --
I thought of the African Queen when you posted info about your steam launch. Here's the latest contact info that I have -- Capt. James Hendricks, P.O. Box 307, Harrods Creek, Ky. 40027. Phone (502)228-8043. They also had a web site: http://www.africanqueen.net, but I cannot seem to get to it anymore.
She was at the last Tall Stacks and I made a point of looking her up. I could not resist asking permission to come aboard -- which they readily granted. Much to my surprise, they told me that out of all those thousands of people who had come to view her at TS, I was the only person who asked to come aboard. I still cannot get over that no one else even asked! Believe me, it was the thrill of a lifetime. They were the nicest people. I purchased a super book bag from them with the African Queen and name logo, about a dozen pockets -- best one I've ever had. Right after I stepped off the vessel, I bumped into Capt. John Hartford, who mightily admired that book bag. However, it was the last one they had, and today it hangs in my office. It is the perfect size for rolled-up river charts, blueprints, etc. -- complete with John's autograph on the back (only time I ever asked him for one, which always threw him!).
Hope you can come to Small Stacks at Vevay -- just show up if you can make it.
Barbara H
