Subject: Re: What is Wake Robin (USS Nightmare I)?

The Wake Robin (Wakerobin, Way´s No. 5680) was a sternwheel lighthouse tender built on Neville Island, PA, by Dravo in 1926 for the U.S. Lighthouse Service. In 1955 she was sold to Comte River Co., Cincinnati, and became a landing boat. She was sold again to Capt. Dennis Trone (builder and former owner of the steamer Julia Belle Swain, still owning the riverboat Twilight) who took her to Chattanooga in 1975 and changed her to a landing boat. In 1978 she was towed to the Illinois river. Later she was sold to BB Riverboats, Cincinnati, and used as haunted steamboat USS Nightmare I. She was replaced by the USS Nightmare II (former William S. Mitchell) and towed to Pittsburgh where she still served as haunted steamboat operated by Gateway Clipper.
