John,
We had a couple of pax onboard earlier this spring
who looked over the Prez and Diamond Lady for
possible inclusion in their Missouri River
operations. They said both boats are in
unfortunate shape and were basically self-laid-up.
The Prez, I am told is in better shape and would
require less. However, she will never run again
(as we are all well aware due to the surrender of
her COI).
They were looking at the Prez as a possible
wharfboat/food service/entertainment complex in
conjunction with the Diamond Lady running
excursion/dinner cruises.
The ultimate decision was to scrap the idea at this
time as the boats would require too much to
accomplish the goal.
I have not seen her, as she is way up the old
original Yazoo channel, about 1 - 1 1/2 mile due
west (upstream) of the President. We were about
1 mile below the Prez in Feburary with the
Mississippi Queen. I made a rather extensive
announcement about her to the pax.
I could see the Diamond Lady up there....but, even
with 10x50 binocs it was hard to see real detail.
