Subject: Re: List of Greene Line boats and years under Greenes

I am interested in finding out about the Tacoma , Greene Lines owned her from1904 till she burned in 1922. I know she was built in Newport, Ohio . I would like to find out more. I am a volunteer at the Gallia County Ohio Historical Society. We have the medical records from the Marine Hospital that was in Gallipolis, Ohio back in the 1900. I found a grtgrt uncle as a disabled seaman in the records. He was on the Tacoma. These records are invaluable for someone who had relatives that were on boats that came up and down past Gallipolis. It was a hospital for the disabled and sick men who worked on the boats.
This is where I found my uncle. The records have a physical description of the men and even the women who were employed by the different line. The records also include the boat that they were from.
I really would like to also find out about the uncle. Silas L. Wood.
If you have any info about the Tacoma I surely would love to have it. Also anyone who might have had relatives who were seamen on the Ohio around the turn of the century I would be more than happy to look and see if they are in the book. I know now that my uncle was 5'8" and had blue eyes and lt colored hair and had smashed his hand on the boat.
Thank you
Cheryl
