HI Keith.I have enjoyed your coments & input on this web site, along with all the others. What a great find. Many in my family worked at the Howard Yards & Jeff Boat in the past. When I was a young child I remember my Dad taking our family down to the river to see a beautiful boat named the "America", that was burning at a site near what is now the upper end of the JEFF BOAT yards. She lit up the night sky and burned for many hours. Some of her remains were still there in the mud when I was a teenager swimming there. She used to make trips to Fern Grove amusement park at the mouth of 14 mile creek. Do you have any history on this? I havent been able to find anything. I think she was the second boat by that name. Hope to see your collection some day. Thanks to all,"FRANK" PS - I think this was in the verv early thirties.
