Thanks Travis...I have to admit, I was more saddened upon leaving this time than in February, to see the slowness of the recovery... and there is the feeling that the country has forsaken them, to some degree. Now I don't mean that everyone expects the federal government to completely bail them out or anything near that, but more that the national consciousness has lost track of them already, assuming that things are ok again...they aren't. New Orleanians are a resilient and tough lot. They WILL be back. I picked up a book enroute to the airport, "1 dead in attic". Its a compilation of columns written by TP reporter Chris Rose, from the first week after 8/29 until January 06. I was in tears at the end...I guess you have to be a part of NOLA to really 'get it'. The title refers to one of the military's scrawling on a house where a body was found in the attic... As far as I'm concerned, 8/29 is just as important and tragic as 9/11...
