Subject: Big Steamboat Weekend-In the AMERICA's Wake

As you know there will be big doings on the BELLE OF LOUISVILLE and at the Howard Museum on Saturday, July 1st. Starting at noon with a tour and cruise on the BELLE followed at 3 by David and Johnathan Tschiggfrie's presentation on the history of the IDLEWILD/AVALON/BELLE OF LOUISVILLE. Capt. Jim Blum says it's a must see, something you don't want to miss.
To make the weekend even better, there will be a third annual outing on JIM'S DREAM. We started two years ago with the "BELLE at TWILIGHT" cruise, last year was the "RAMBLE on the RIVER" cruise on Kentucky River. On Sunday July 2nd we will have the "In the AMERICA's Wake" cruise. We will cruise to the old ROSE ISLAND site.
Rose Island in the 20's and 30's was a very popular amusement/camp site located on the river at the mouth of 14 Mile Creek. The site is now a state park.
The Str. AMERICA and later the IDLEWILD made daily excusrions from Louisville to the park.
If we can, we'll take the DREAM up 14 Mile Creek to the site of the old bridge which was the beginning of the grand boulevard through the park so people can get off and explore the ruins if they so choose.
BE WARNED...you will be exploring through the forest prime evil, the operators of the DREAM will not be responsible for snake, chigger, or bug bites and they will not be responsible poison ivey or poison oak exposure. Dress accordingly!
Details about the cruise as they become available.
