Subject: US Marine Hospital in Louisville

There is an interesting article from todays paper about the marine hospital. There is a slide show of pictures on the website www.courier-journal.com/features. It is worth checking out.

The 1852 hospital -- which treated sick sailors plying the Ohio River -- is being restored, after being named three years ago as one of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Located in the Portland neighborhood, the building recently received its rebuilt crown -- the eight-sided cupola, where patients sat for fresh air while watching steamers chug up and down the Ohio.
