Sam: The reason that Annie Got to go with BB's Wild West Show was that Bogardus lost all of his traps, baggage and guns when the steamboat the WW Show was on came into collision with another steamboat in the Mississippi and sank with much if not all of it. This was in December of 1884 Bogardus went to Cincinnati where the steamer was owned to get recompense for his loss. Annie and Frank at that time approached Cody in New Orleans in an attempt to get on with the WW Show. Cody turned them down since he thought he had Bogardus and his four boys plus himself as shooters. Cody thought Annie too frail to hold up under show business strain. On February 13, 1885, Annie fired at 5000 glass balls thrown in the air at fifteen yard rise and broke a record number of them (4772). She did this with three sixteen gage hammer shotguns (one of them almost surely was Parker serial No. 30203). That is one shot every 6 1/2 seconds for nine hours...loading her own guns (no ejectors back then). Bogardus resigned from the WW Show in March 1885, Annie auditioned in late April in Louisville and was hired on the spot. See my article in the Double Gun Journal dated Spring 2003 for some of the details and photos of Parker No. 30203.
