Gents, your remarks are accurate on all counts. I was indeed astonished to see how deep she was sitting in the water. The gib keepers and maybe even the key that holds the pitman brasses in place were getting dunked on every rev of the wheel. The pitman proper was "staying dry" but just barely.

I know that Chiefs McCoy, Mattingly, Lewis, Howe, and their fine crew have labored mightily on these matters of late, and the results are encouraging. It has been the greatest of privileges for me to be involved and I look forward to continuing the effort!
