What has happened to the former Railroad car ferry that was just upriver from the Boblo boats a some years ago? She had a pair of Milwaukee Road Skytop (Lounge- rather than the sleeper versions I believe)Observation Cars with opposing sides cut out and made into a bar/lounge. One engine was still in place the one and only time I was on it around 1990.
The last time I was in Detroit (a mid February) when the Boblo boats were still docked behind Joe Lewis Arena I stopped in the small parking lot next to the boats to try to get one or two photos of the EXTERIORS ONLY I was quickly run off by a woman who identified herself as an official of the Auto Club (Owners of vessels she informed me)and was told I was not allowed to take pictures of them!--and this was somewhere in the mid 1990's. Glad to hear that there is a possibility that one or maybe both will be saved from the breakers.
