You are indeed right. The levee was an exciting place in those days. I have read with dismay the shabby treatment given the Goldenrod by the city of St. Charles and have been tempted to get involved with the boat again. If there were any chance of saving her in the present location I would certainly listen to interested parties who might merge common interests.
The ten years I was involved with the Goldenrod were happy ones until the stress and financial strain of keeping her afloat became too much. I would hate to see her go upriver because I don't think she could stand the trip.
