Thank you Judy. Gregg Abbot is exactly right. I just gave myself a great big dope slap for not being able to remember his last name. And if Gregg is out there reading this, I apologize. Concerning the passenger bumps on the Presidential Cruise. Yes, one of the media rumors at the time was that a lot of passengers were bumped. As the article stated, no full fare passengers were bumped. That year we had a large number of reduced fare passengers riding because of the way the company had scheduled the two boats plus many passengers were being urged to go on the new Mississippi Queen. It got to the point that year that travel agents and finally school teachers could ride for $15.00 a day. That was the rate the company charged for immediate family of crew members. This, of course, did not even pay for the cost of food. It was a wonderful gesture on the part of the company to allow family members to ride at that rate and certainly did reinforce the "Steamboat Family" attitude.
