Dale: That clown face sounds scary! On the ADMIRAL, the pitmans for the sidewheels were named "Wimpy" and "Popeye". Those big pitmans now are displayed at the Museum of Transport in St. Louis. They have some very interesting river items there, although the museum primarily is railroad/trolley cars/etc. The pilotwheel from the CAPITOL, Capt. Donald T. Wright's rolltop desk from the Waterways Journal office, and even a small towboat, the H.T. POTT, are on display at the museum. Judy and I spent an afternoon there some years ago when the temperature was 103, but we climbed into an old baggage car with a museum offical who showed us Capt. Wright's desk -- now dismantled and looking very forlorn.
