Hey, Keith:
I don't know how guys like you, Travis, Doc Hawley do it. Calliope technique must be totally different from piano or even pipe organ with that restricted keyboard.

For those who don't know, Homer Denny was the sage calliopist on the old CONEY ISLAND excursion boats going way, way back. He was last on the ISLAND QUEEN in 1947 and was taking pictures from across the river in Pittsbugrh the moment the boat exploded and burned in September, 1947. Denny was accomplished as a composer and wrote, among other pieces, 'Calliope Rag.' Did I remember him? Yeah, as a kid on the ISLAND QUEEN. His family lived next to us and all were accomplished musicians. Dexter, his grand-nephew with a chum of mine [*have an old photo of us holding my pet duck, 'Gertie'] and went on to master the violin at Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music.
Thanks for the memories.
