You bet that was some 'tour' of the BELLE that day! I hope your 'treasure hunt' is successful. I'll E=Mail Barb Hameister and ask if she, indeed, did make a tape recording. Remember Doc telling how they stowed the coal and what a job it was to restring the tiller lines? Our dear friend, the late Dorothea Frye, loved the AVALON. She ate lunch with them once and noticed that crew members would lift the top piece of sliced bread and take what they wanted from underneath; replacing the top slice. Shen she asked why somebody said, "Well, the top slice is for the flies."
