Hi, Keith: Your posting Re: the haunting 'M' letter most interesting. Yep, lots of ships/boats had 'M' and nothing happened. Atlantic steamship companies weren't so easily spooked. There have been some 36 major liners beginning with 'M.' Major 'incidents' included a lot without that letter: TITANIC, LUSITANIA, BRITANNIC, ANDREA DORIA, EMPRESS OF IRELAND, NORMANDIE, LIBERTE, on and on. The MATSON Co., on the Pacific had a whole line of 'M' ships. Well, they did nearly lose their new MALOLO on her sea trials when brand new in a collision. Capt. Fred Way's PACKET DIRECTORY lists a far larger number of 'M' named boats than I ever thought. Yet, it still makes us all stop and think. Cheers, R. Dale Flick
