Subject: Correction Needed for Newspaper Article

Today, I have been receiving calls from friends that an article has been written and published regarding the steamboats. This article came out in the Florida newspapers today or yesterday. It may be in national newspapers. I really don't know. I've not seen the article however, the contents are about the steamboats cruising again.

It mentions that I was responsible for getting the DQ declared a National Historic Landmark. Of course, you all know that is wrong. The only thing I can take any credit for is starting the National Save Our Queens Campaign in November of 2001. I only threw the ball out and you ran with it.

I was never interviewed for this article by the writer. I believe his name is Herb Huffman ???. I'm sure his heart was in the right place and any publicity helps. However, please know that I am telling anyone who contacts me and doesn't know the history of the Delta Queen, the real facts.

Very seldom, do published articles contain complete and correct information when written by a third party.

Once again, I know the writer meant well. However, I am embarassed. I wish I had been a part of that great campaign in the 70's.

I'm anxious to see the article and not just hear about it.
