Steve, I am unable to locate much of my reference material, but what I do remember from talking to Bob McCann is that the CARY BIRD was originally a ferryboat that ran from Cairo, IL to Bird's Point MO (thus the name.) When the Greene Line owned her Capt. Lanes McMurtery was her master. Many of us know Cap'Mac as wharfmaster of the huge Greene Line wharfboat in Cincinnati. Richard
