That's a great picture, one I've never seen before. And
the picture in the historical article is new too. I
wonder about the stupid little things, like how was it
heated, lit - could have hooked up to shore power, but
this was at least 5 years after last running. Were her
systems still usable. And of course, what about the
sewage...it amazes me that the DK survived that round
trip journey, and that they didn't just junk it there.
Then of course, once she was back in California, there
were many more travails. All this reminds me of Stan
Garvey's book,"King and Queen of the River" which is a
wonderful history of both, especially about their
California days. .........
