Hi, Keith:
You bet Helen Hayes was on the DQ--often. Patti Young, then with DQ CO., handled arrangements for her and they became pretty good acquaintances via company affairs etc. Years ago Helen Hayes was starring in 'Victoria Regina.' She got rave reviews and the theater columnist said, "Oh, Ms. Hayes, your performance was wonderful!" Helen saw her moment and said, "To say otherwise would be like spitting on the American flag." There was a pause and she burst out laughing and winked.
Don't forget the cruise on the DQ by HRH, Princess Margaret of Great Britain. It got great photo coverage in the S&D REFLECTOR. Must have been back in the 1980s (?). She was not happy in spite of Royal birth and her life ended tragically with chronic illness. A very misunderstood lady.
Cheers,
R. Dale Flick
