Judy, I think the accident you are referring to occurred in 1971 when the DQ struck a sandbar near the Cannelton Lock, doing MUCH damage to the sternwheel and (if i recall correctly) tearing off the monkey rudders. Thanks to Bert, the new lumber for the wheel was delivered posthaste, but it put a big dent in the schedule -- not to mention the wheel!
