That picture is from a postcard I bought. At the time, I didn't know the story behind it, but it sure was unusual enough to buy it anyway! A little bit more from Ways about this ISLAND QUEEN: She was built in 1896 in Cincinnati; 283x42x8.5;compound noncondensing engines 20s 35s-9ft; 6 boilers. Owned by Coney Island Co. She tramped off season to New Orleans, but never got above Pomeroy on the Ohio. Her first winters were spent in the mouth of the Licking River. Later she wintered in the mouth of the Kentucky River where she broke loose in ice in January 1918 and floated to Madison. She was then taken to the Louisville Canal. Her demise was the fire on Nov. 4, 1922 which also destroyed the MORNING STAR, TACOMA, AND CHRIS GREENE I.
